Summer Breeze <3 #OOTD

So today I hit Leeds city centre with a fabulous friend. Shopping, coffee, lunch date and more shopping, what more could I ask for?

So, I set out for the day in my newly purchased Lavish Alice top. I am so impressed! I ordered for the first time on Wednesday morning, and sure enough, it arrived- free delivery- bright and early Thursday! I loved it so much I couldn’t wait, and had to wear it out today!Β

So, here’s a photograph out and about:

And here’s the end result of the day:

When I arrived home after a busy day, I couldn’t help but add my new purchases to my outfit, so here are the final results! I also included my cute little Fiat 500 in the photographs, as we’re matching in colour! ❀

Liebster Award Nomination, Exciting Times!! <3

liebster award

Thank you so much to the beautifulΒ RoseΒ for my first ever nomination, I’m so grateful. Please, if you see this, go and check out Rose’s amazing blog, and find some stylish fashion inspiration.

Despite long break periods with no posts, I’ve been blogging on and off for around 9 months. After finishing my studies, I feel I am back on track with blogging, and feel inspired to share my fashion with the world of WordPress (and Instagram). It feels amazing to have been recognised by a fellow blogger, thank you so much Rose, I really appreciate the support ❀

I’ve never heard of this award until now, and if you guys are in the same boat, here are the rules:

  • So first of all,Β start with a little bit about yourself.
  • Next, answer the questions set by your tagger.
  • Share 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Now create a new set of questions for your own nominees.
  • And finally tag your own inspirational bloggers you wish to nominate.

1. What made/got you to start blogging?

I set up my blog at the end of last year (2013) whilst in the process of applying for fashion related university courses. When I had finally taken the plunge and applied for the courses, it sort of confirmed my love for fashion, and it was from that moment I felt like a blog would be the perfect way to share my passion, with others who adore the industry.

2. What do you think makes your blog different from others?

I’d like to think that my blog is more realistic than some others, in the way that my outfits are (definitely) not all runway worthy, but in fact everyday, comfortable outfits. Obviously there are times I like to take the effort, but it would be far from the truth to say I dress like that on a day to day basis.

3. What’s your go-to outfit?

I think I have a few go-to outfits, but jumpsuits are always a good option, as they eliminate the whole ‘what top goes with these bottoms’ dilemma!

4. Your favourite outfit/post since you started your blog?

I quite like the Summer PastelsΒ post/outfit. I’m loving the subtle pastel colours this season, and feel this outfit is comfortable and can be dressed up or down, making it suitable for a nice shopping date in town or a slightly dressy meal out.

5. Who are your favourite/inspirational bloggers?

Through WordPress, and quite recently Instagram, I have found so many inspirational bloggers it’s unreal! Find some of my favourites HERE, HERE, HEREΒ and an old favourite HERE.Β There are so many more though!

6. What is something that you can never live without?

Maybe a controversial answer here (as I’m guessing this is fashion/beauty related) but I’m going to say my family (friends included!).

7. If I was to look in your closet, what would I see most of?

My wardrobe is quite odd, it’s like 50% black, grey and understated, and the other half is crazy bold colours, patterns, etc…

8. What do you always pack with you when you go on vacation?

Bikinis, day time pool/beach wear, crop tops etc are always needed. Then I always ensure I have plenty of going out, occasion wear for the evenings (a few night clubbing outfits thrown in!). I love summer colours, brights and pastels, or a simple, classic black, white or both look.

9. What’s the one piece that girls/boys should always pack with them?

Super stylish flip-flops/sandals! Perfect for days on the beach, splashing around the pool, or even evenings cocktails! Always add a touch of summer to any outfits, and these days the choice of incredibly stylish flip-flops (and sandals) are amazing! (Check out theseΒ to add a sparkle, or Mel’sΒ collection of jelly flip-flops, perfect for day or night).

10. Ideal vacation place.

I love to travel, fashion and culture wise I love the fashion capitals! I’ve visited London and Paris too many times in the last 18 months, but I don’t think I’ll ever visit enough! So having visited London and Paris, the other two fashion capitals are next on the list, Milan and New York! Pefect for a city break. But, having said that, I do love my summer holidays, so would definitely not turn down a beach, pool and cocktail vacation!

11 random facts about myself:

  1. I have different coloured eyes (green and brown, although for some reason they were green and blue as a child?)
  2. Last year I went crazy, dying my hair pink, purple blue and green in the space of about 4/5 months!
  3. I’m super indecisive! I literally pass as much responsibility as I possibly can onto others, to avoid choosing for myself!
  4. I’ve just finished my ALevels, after taking a year out of studies the year before last.
  5. I am currently debating whether or not to dye my hair colourful again, but with this indecisiveness i’ll never get round to choosing!
  6. I received a conditional offer to study the Fashion Management course at UAL, London College of Fashion earlier this year, to hopefully start this September coming, now it’s a waiting game! Super nervous for exam results!
  7. I have an obsession for Mel jelly shoes, in particularly the Vivienne Westwood collaborations!
  8. I’m so unphotogenic, making a fashion blog very difficult! I hate posting photos of my face!
  9. I’ve recently made an Instagram account to post my daily fashion, lifestyle photographs, linking it in with my WordPress blog. Follow, follow, follow- @welcometomegsworld
  10. I hope to travel much more, and make use of my ALevel photography, in order to capture my adventures!

My set of questions are as follows:

  • Why did you start blogging?
  • What’s your preference, Bold, Understated, or Classic?
  • Favourite wardrobe essential?
  • Where is the best place you have travelled, and why did you like it?
  • Is your love of fashion purely a hobby, or a potential career path?
  • Who is your top celebrity style icon at the moment?
  • Heels or flats?
  • Where is your favourite place to shop (fashion wise)?
  • What is your most expensive fashion splurge!?
  • What colour is most prominent in your wardrobe?
  • What is your favourite activity?

I would like to nominate these amazing blogs for the award, for a combination of my love of their style, the people behind the blogs, and the amazing support that has been offered to mylsef:

Here is the result: featuring my new Topshop chokers (purchased today). I rounded off quite a plain Asos jumpsuit by adding my new vintage scarf! Honestly, you can wear it any way imaginable!

Here Comes the Sun <3

Today so far has been wonderful, full of adventures, sunshine, and laughter, with a well needed friend date ❀

I was up bright and early, making the most of this beautiful English sunshine (I know right, I’m just as shocked-and grateful- as the next person) drinking my morning coffee, reading a fashion magazine, and eating fresh berries out in the garden, Parisian style (or at least i’d like to think). I then dressed somewhat according to incredible temperatures, bringing out an old favourite, statement piece, my tartan-checked, skinny, cigarette trousers, from Topshop! I paired it together with my trusty old Office flatforms, and a RiverIsland cropped top, mint green, my favourite.Β

First things first, flicking through Glamour magazine, I spotted thisΒ little gem! You’ll either thank me (for introducing such a cute, amazing bag into your life) or hate me (when you spot the price tag).Β

And a quick selfie or two before venturing out:

Ok, so now to the most relevant part of the post… Today I met a beautiful friend in town (Wakefield) where we had a spot of lunch al fresco, and then headed to Pugney’s Country Park, for a relaxing walk around the lake in the glistening sunshine.Β So, with my good old DSLR on hand, I madeΒ the most of the weather and beautiful scenery (plus the amazing mint green Camper Van) by creating a shoot, to share with you today’s fashion pieces. Hope you approve!Β

Fashion wise, each piece of my outfit is not so new, but my sunnies and trousers were from Topshop, you’ll find similar pieces here, and here. I must admit, finding these alternatives has just persuaded me to buy new! Watch this space -.- haha

Hope today has rounded off a lovely week for you all, and hope the weekend brings along with it the loveliest of adventures.

Always love to see comments and feedback (positive or negative, all is welcome!). Thank you for viewing,Β

Minty Fresh <3

So far today I’ve certainly been making the most of this amazing British weather! I was up and out, making use of the sunshine and my DSLR, to hopefully provide a better quality of blog photographs for today’s update.Β

I decided to wear a completely new outfit for a change, so this time, if you spot anything you like, i’m 99.9% sure you’ll still be able to get your hands on the pieces either in store or online.

So here goes, today I wore:

Topshop– Green cropped top (only Β£6)

Topshop– High waisted, ripped knee, white skinny jeans (Jamie) (Β£42)

RiverIsland– platform sandals (Β£35)

Topshop– Hoop earrings (sale!!! Β£3.50 for a set of three hoops)

The bag is a cute little gift my Grandmother has just brought me back from Spain. I must admit, when she said ‘I’ve bought you a bag’ I was slightly worried, but I love it! ❀

The ring is a super cute gift from a friend, and the nail polish is a Barry M,Β gelly, in ‘coconut’. A new top favourite of mine.Β

This afternoon I enjoyed a nice walk into the little town centre, and decided what better time than to go check out the cute vintage shop I had spotted a while ago. It was amazing! I couldn’t leave without purchasing, so decided to buy a little neck/head scarf, such a bargain at Β£1! The women who worked there were ever so friendly, and the clothing was incredible. Check out their Facebook page for images of the beautiful vintage fashion stockedΒ hereΒ πŸ˜€Β

When I returned home, I decided to change from the slightly impractical white jeans, to a darker pair of Topshop high-waists, slip on my Vivienne Westwood jellies, and chill in the garden with a homemade smoothie, again making the most of this glorious sunshine. (And no, I couldn’t resist, had to try the scarf!)

Friday’s Ensemble <3

A last minute meal out called for a last minute outfit changed yesterday evening! I decided to put together, a comfortable, smart casual, kind of outfit, introducingΒ my black flatform trainer/shoes to Summer 2014! I tend to go through phases with my outfits, often unintentionally disregarding (ok, totally forgetting I even own) some of my most favourite items. But luckily, I tend to spot them again sooner or later, haha.Β

So here I wore, Topshop jeans (high-wasted, skinny, ripped knee), a favourite new season top from ArkClothing (pastels are always a winner!), and an old sale peplum jacket, again from Topshop, and my good old flatforms from OfficeShoes.Β

I feel that the peplum jacket adds a smart element, to what otherwise is quite a casual, relaxed outfit.

So there goes, my quickly pieced together look, for a night of fun and laughter, during a much loved, friend-dinner date ❀

-WHITE-VISION-

Recently I have been drawn to the many beautiful dazzling white pieces within highstreet stores, Topshop especially. Last week I treat myself to a pair of Topshop’s white, high-waisted, ripped-knee, jeans, and white hoop earrings, and it was from that moment onwards that I have been inspired to invest in many more white pieces to create a head to toe white ensemble!

It’s quite strange, as in theory, white seems to be an understated colour, yet in reality, it is bright, bold and eye-catching, and can easily set you apart from the crowd, with white contrasting against a sea of colour.

Here I teamed up some of my favourite high-street store pieces, to create a total white look:

JEANS: Topshop – Β£42
BACKPACK: Topshop – Β£38
HEELS: Lamodauk.com – 30
CROP TOP: Missguided.co.uk – Β£4.99
NAIL POLISH: Barrym.com – Β£2.99 (available from Boots and Superdrug)
DENIM JACKET: Topshop – Β£45
SCRUNCHIE: American Apparel – Β£6
EARRINGS: Amazon.co.uk – Β£7.99

WHITE VISION

Hopefully I will soon be able to complete my ‘WHITE VISION’ collection, and post the end result! For now, I hope this inspires you too… I’ve featured a variety of online and highstreet brands, showing that affordable fashion is out there somewhere!

Love M, xox

(PS: Missing from the image, but i’m sure a white elastic choker would fit in perfectly! )

Bright and Bold <3

So yesterday I explored Manchester, had a long overdue friend-date, shopped and lunched in style πŸ˜€

I apologise in advance for the terrible photograph quality and lighting, but hopefully you can obtain the full look and style!Β

Again, like the majority of my outfits, I have combined a variety of new and old pieces, to create a new and alternate look. The denim jacket has been featured in previous posts, and is a purchase from Topshop around 1 year ago. If not the same, similar products are definitely available at their high-street stores and website. The off shoulder top is a newer piece, bought a couple of months ago from RiverIsland, for a great price of Β£18. This top is still available in store, and also comes in a variety of colours and designs (the palm tree pattern is super cute). My jeans are slightly newer still, purchased from Topshop for Β£40 in the past month. They are skinny, and high waisted, perfect to team up with any crop this summer! My shoes/sandals were a new impulse by last week, as I was supposedly ‘window shopping’ in town! Β£35 from RiverIsland, amazing shoes, and the neutral colours allow easy pairing with almost anything. And the low heel gives height, yet is still super practical for daytime, casual wear. My earrings are also new, from Accessorize, only Β£3 in the sale! The picture doesn’t do these beauties justice, they do intact feature coloured tassels and little parrots! And finally a superrrrr old Roxy backpack, to add a contrasting bold print, and also make trailing around the city a little easier, a new, more practical way to shop!Β
